Monday. Why does that word bring such mixed emotions to everyone who hears it? I know a lot of people who live for the weekend and hate to see Monday roll around. Are you one of them?
Let’s examine why that is. Here’s what I think: whatever Monday forces you to do is not what you want to be doing. You are not living out your purpose. Now, I know not everyone can or even will attempt to get their vocation and their purpose linked up.
So, if you are in that camp, what can you do to make Monday a little less morose?
Humans tend to be creatures of habit, living on auto-pilot. Let’s make a pledge to do something different each Monday.
Do you drive to work and always take the same route? Change it up. Roll the windows down and sing at the top of your lungs, or listen to a different radio station, a podcast or an audiobook.
Got a favorite place you stop for coffee every day? Go to a coffee shop where you’ve never been and don’t get your usual drink.
Always take your lunch to work and eat it at your desk? Find a sunny place outside to eat it, or grab a workmate and eat lunch together at a new restaurant.
What do you do as soon as you get to your desk? Do something different.
Are there things in your office that you would change if you could? Write a solid proposal to your boss to suggest changes.
What perks does your job offer? Are there opportunities to get some training you’d like? Go for it.
Monday is here. What are you going to do differently today?
