Self-Improvement Round Up #2

Weekly Hacks #2

round up

Each Wednesday, You, Improved pulls together a selection of the best self-improvement resources we have found for body, mind, spirit and life. So, without further ado, let’s check them out.

Body: Five Tricks to Visualize (And Get) The Body You Want. There is controversy over whether visualization actually works. But Jon Gabriel believes visualization helped him lose 220 pounds, 75 of which he says he lost without doing any exercise. Have you tried this technique? How did it work for you?

Mind: Gratitude Journal. In our busy lives, we often forget to stop to inventory all the good things that we have. many of which are so small – the like a good cup of coffee or the morning sun shining on your face –  we rarely even think about them. Research shows that consciously giving thanks leads to well-being. This Berkeley University exercise walks you through the hows and whys of gratitude and provides instruction on keeping a gratitude journal.

Spirit: What Makes A Good Life? Are you happy? Have you wondered what keeps people happy and healthy as they go through life? Is it fame and fortune? Nope. Psychiatrist Robert Waldinger, the director of a 75-year-old study on adult development, believes his data on true happiness and satisfaction shows it’s neither money nor notoriety that leads to happiness. In this TED talk, Waldinger shares the results gleaned from the longest study on happiness.

Life: 10 Questions To Help You Reflect On 2015. How was your life in 2015? The year end is a natural time to stop and muse a bit over what happened to us in the previous 12 months. Have you stopped to think about it at all? Sometimes we need to reflect on what has been so that we can improve on what will be.

Let us know if you find something that needs to be in the weekly round up.
