You Can Do Anything - You, Improved

You Can Do Anything

you can do anything

You Can Do Anything, But Not Everything

Do you have a lot going on in your life? Yes, me too. I’ve been having a hard time focusing on what to do next because there are so many things I need to do before launching my new book. There’s always going to be things on your to-do list that don’t get done. Accepting this is the first step in getting on to what absolutely must get done.

So, here’s what I’ve been doing recently to gain more focus.

First, I’ve been making Done Lists. I’ve gotten a lot done in the last month, so yay! It’s good to celebrate your successes. This helps get me pumped to go after the rest of the list.

Next, I edit my to-do list based on my most important goal. Right now, the goal is to get the book finished for an October launch. If you don’t relate to book launch Mr. To-Do, you are demoted to the bottom of the list. Got to focus!

Here’s the new cover!

Here’s my current list:

  • Get Cover designed (DONE)
  • Buy ISBN numbers (DONE)
  • Contact beta readers for their comments (DONE)
  • Review beta reader input (DONE)
  • Make final edits  (DONE)
  • Promote, promote, promote (DONE)
  • Get social media followers to vote on cover designs  (DONE)
  • Print out script for audiobook  (DONE)
  • Record the audiobook (IN PROCESS)
  • Upload audiobook files to ACX (DONE)
  • Promote, promote, promote (DONE)
  • Export print and ebook files  (DONE)
  • Upload print file to Createspace and produce preview version
  • Upload ebook file to Amazon  (DONE)
  • Set pricing for print and ebook  (DONE)
  • Promote, promote, promote (DONE)
  • Set launch date and inform beta readers so they can get reviews ready (DONE)
  • Communicate launch date to social media followers and email list (DONE)
  • Promote, promote, promote (DONE)
  • Set up Amazon Kindle Select free promotion for first 5 days of the launch (DONE)
  • Communicate free book promotion on social media and free book sites (DONE)
  • Launch! (DONE)
  • Promote, promote, promote!

Next, just say no. Don’t take on any tasks that don’t relate to the book. It’s time to be a bit selfish so that I can get the book out in October in time for the Christmas selling season.

Finally, believe. I know I can get all of this done, but I’m going to need some help. I’ve set up the audiobook recording session and the designer to work on the cover. I’ve called on my beta readers and friends to write reviews and help spread the word. Let me know if you want to help in any way. I could use it!

Remember, you can do anything with a little focus and some help from your friends.
